We had the privilege of having Roman as a next door neighbor for many years. He watched our kids and grandson grow up. He was more than a neighbor, he was a good friend. Mike and he would work on different projects in both of our yards. Roman and Sally had the most beautiful flower and vegetable gardens ever seen ! Their dogs would always look for the kids and be up for a game of fetch ! Whenever my husband or grandson disappeared I could usually find them on Roman’s front porch drinking a soda. Sally liked to invite me in for a cup of tea and always had a story to tell about their days in Allen Park and their visit with President and Mrs. Clinton. We moved shortly after Sally had passed away, but still managed to see Roman from time to time, and kept in touch by phone. I last talked to him for his 90th birthday and we promised to take him out for dinner once this COVID-19 would allow; unfortunately this turned out to be a promise we couldn’t keep. I am sure he is enjoying his reunion with Sally. Our grandson still looks at the stars and says hi to them both because they are still watching us. They both will be greatly missed !
