Obituary for Nell Jane Peake

Nell Jane Peake, 85, of Hillsdale, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Spring Arbor. In accordance to her wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
She was born October 2, 1935 to Lawrence and Evelyn (Gagne) Peake in Curran, MI. Nell had worked for the State of Michigan as a nurse manager for 53 years until her retirement. She attended the Reading Church of the Nazarene, had been a national associate member of the Smithsonian Institution, and member of the Commander’s Club-Disabled Veterans. Nell was a lover of nature, always finding the joy in a hike outside, gardening, and especially traveling up north. She was also a talented painter, avid collector of rocks and fossils, and enjoyed reading and listening to music; but her greatest passion of all was her family. From caregiver to mother, grandmother, and great grandmother her generous and caring heart will always be remembered.
Nell is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Donald “Skeeter”) Reynolds of Reading, Rhonda (Bruce) Heller of Marshall, Theresa Hicksenhiser of Spring Arbor; her siblings Frances Brown, John Peake both of Barton City, MI, Geneva O’Connor of East Tawas, MI; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Louella Vincent, Evelyn Watt, her brother Louis Peake, and one granddaughter Tara Reynolds.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
