Obituary for Morris C. "Kub" Kolassa

Morris “Kub” Carl Kolassa, 88 of Bronson passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Maple Lawn.

In following his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Mass to celebrate Kub’s life at St. Mary of Assumption Church in the spring of 2021. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Morris was born November 26, 1931 to Edward and Eleanor (Horkey) Kolassa in Bronson. After graduation from high school, he began a long career as an entrepreneur. Kub owned the Bronson Party Store, the Matteson Lake Store, and Dairy Queen in Coldwater over the years. He also drove the bus for the Bronson Schools as well as working at Burr Oak Tool & Die in Sturgis before retiring. On March 18, 1951 he married the love of his life, Inez Snyder in Bronson. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2019.

Morris was a man of faith and a long-time member of St. Mary’s and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Notre Dame fan. Kub enjoyed spending time golfing, playing cards with family and friends, as well as bowling. He liked to travel north riding snowmobiles and deer hunting. Kub was also fond of spending time boating and swimming. His true joy in life was being with family and friends. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Kolassa is survived by his children Kathy (James) Mantle of Monticello, KY, Melissa Capron of Richland, and Jody (Joe) Beck of Bronson; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 67 years, Inez Kolassa; his son Jeffery Kolassa; his daughter-in-law Patricia Kolassa; his brother Robert Kolassa; his sister Mary Katherine Kupecki; and his great grandson Jackson Mantle.
