Obituary for Michael M. "Mike" Barringer
Michael “Mike” Maurice Barringer, 71 of Allen passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with his brother Terry Barringer leading the service. Visitation will be prior to the funeral beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
Michael was born November 12, 1948 to Maurice and Margaret (Claar) Barringer in Coldwater. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1969. On March 28, 1970 he married the love of his life, Paula Beckman. Mike served a tour of duty in the US Army in Viet Nam, where he earned a medal for Valor and a Bronze Star. He was a radio operator and Tunnel Rat, ending his career as a Sergeant E-5 at Fort Benning. Mike returned home to his wife and began a long working career, retiring from Voltek. Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors going hunting and fishing. Being on his boat fishing brought him many hours of joy.
Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paula Barringer of Allen; his children Cassandra (Gordon) Oberlin and Kennith (Nicole Bowling) Barringer; his siblings Linda Henning, Scott (Nancy) Barringer, Vicki (Don) Inman, and Terry (Ann) Barringer; his granddaughter Makenna Barringer; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
