Obituary for Melvin L. Boltz

Melvin Lee Boltz, 88, of Coldwater, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.

A service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater at 10:30 AM officiated by pastor Scott Marsh. Prior to the service, visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater from 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Melvin was born September 6, 1935, to Mervyn and Irene (Crawford) Boltz in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1952 and continued his education at Michigan State University earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. After his time in the United States Army, Melvin started his career at Oldsmobile in sales and distribution, until his retirement in 1994. He married Ann C. Toupalik on June 25, 1995, in Coldwater, MI.

Melvin was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church. He often volunteered for the church, and went on a trip after Hurricane Katrina to participate in relief help. Melvin enjoyed fishing, cards, reading, dancing, and watching MSU basketball games. He also enjoyed traveling, especially internationally. He also especially enjoyed spending time with all 7 of his grandchildren.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Ann Boltz (Toupalik) of Coldwater; his daughter Heather (Scott) McGlone of Plymouth, MI; his step children John (Carol) Toupalik of Findlay, OH, JoAnn Bachewicz of Westville, IN, Renata Toupalik of O’Fallon, IL, Susan (Bill) Knisely of Niles, MI, Kathleen (Jay) Bentz of Frankfort, IL; his grandchildren Joshua Doering, Zachary Doering; his step grandchildren David Knisely, Tyler (Katie) Knisely, Gregory Toupalik, Emily (Garret) Baker, Nicholas Bachewicz; and many nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by his daughter Beth Boltz; stepson Tom Toupalik; and siblings Merene Conkey, Inez Harger, and Janice Creswell.
