Mary Ann Cole, 74 of Sherwood passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family at her home.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, Monday, January 22, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Interment will follow at Sherwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Mary was born May 16, 1943 to Russell and Thelma (Halsey) Pepper in Union City. She graduated from Union City High School in 1961. Later that year, she married the love of her life, Roy Cole on December 15 in Union City. They moved to Sherwood and raised their family.

Mary was very active in the Sherwood community. She served on the town council for 16 years, and was a current member of the planning commission. Mary always put the needs of her family first. She had many interest including playing solitaire on the computer, sewing, and doing upholstery work. Mary was a very talented woman who helped with their rental properties, building and doing carpentry work. After family, her passion was music. The entire family was brought up with music being a reason to celebrate. Roy & Mary played at the Burnside Senior Center and also at the Laurels. Mary will be remembered as a strong woman that enjoyed being around family and friends.

Mrs. Cole is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy Cole of Sherwood; her children Todd (Dona) Cole of Coldwater and Renee (Rodney) Cruse of Three Rivers; her siblings Denny (Mary Lee) Pepper of Marshall, Connie (Lester) Riley of Brisbane, Australia and Al Pepper of Lincoln, NE; her sister-in-law’s Sondra Pepper of San Diego, CA, and Mary Sue Beard of Lincoln, NE; her grandchildren Gage Cole of Sherwood, Shay Lee (Travis Barone) Cole of Bronson, and Nathen Marunde of Sherwood; her great grandchildren Cohen and Jorie Barone both of Bronson; her good friends Flip & Penny Johnson, Janet Thurston, Jim & Linda Gilliams; several nieces, nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jim Pepper.
