Obituary for Marjorie Maxine Knauss

Marjorie Maxine Knauss, 93, of Coldwater passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. A private funeral service for Marjorie will be held with interment to follow in Mason Cemetery in Coldwater, MI. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 1-2pm at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. A maximum of 25 people in the chapel at any one time and masks are required.
She was born June 11, 1927 to Roy and Emma (Hawkins) Sampsel in Litchfield, MI. She was a Coldwater High School graduate, class of 1945 and on December 18, 1948 she married her first husband Richard Ulrich who preceded her in death on December 7, 1974. In June of 1976 Marjorie married her second husband Lyman Knauss and he preceded her in death in 2005. She had led a long career of 29 years serving as a bookkeeper Southern Michigan Bank and Trust in Coldwater until her retirement. Marjorie had been a faithful member to the First Baptist church in Coldwater, the Red Hatters, and the Good Sam Travel Club for 17 years. She was a very accomplished seamstress and talented quilt maker but baking was always a favorite of hers. She enjoyed camping and solving crossword puzzles but most of all she loved her family. Marjorie was a very independent woman and her generosity of time and affection knew no limit; she was dedicated wife, loving mother, and grandmother and great grandmother that filled her heart with her grand and great grandchildren.
Surviving Marjorie is her children Suzanne Fillmore of Coldwater, John (Julie) Ulrich of Union City; her daughter-in-law Teresa Knauss of Coldwater, son-in-law Jerry DeNooyer of Kalamazoo; her step daughter Donna Knauss of NM; her four grandchildren Rick (Tiffany) Fillmore, Ryan(Heather) Fillmore, Nancy (Nick Schultz) Ulrich, Daylon Ulrich; seven great grandchildren and her loving nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Richard, her second husband Lyman, her daughter Joyce “Jo” DeNooyer, two sisters Doris Sampsel and Leah Bakle, a son-in-law Robert Fillmore and her step-son Dan Knauss.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
