Obituary for Leroy G. "Lee" VanStone

Leroy G. “Lee” VanStone, 82 of Coldwater passed away on January 29, 2021 at the Laurels of Coldwater, following a short illness.

In following his wishes cremation has taken place and a private burial and family service will take place at a later date. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Leroy was born September 14, 1938 to Leroy and Elaine (Hall) VanStone in Portland, Maine. His family moved to Coldwater when Lee was a teenager. Lee earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Tri-State College (Trine University). He married his high school sweetheart Molly Milnes on September 6, 1958 at St. Mark’s Church, Coldwater. Lee worked as an Engineer, taking positions in Chicago, South Bend, Memphis, and Birmingham, AL. In April of 1984 he and Molly made the decision to buy what is now Coldwater Lake Marina. He owned and operated the marina until retirement in January of 2001. Lee and Molly spent many winters in Florida, summers back at the lake entertaining his family with many lake activities.

Lee was a man of faith and a long-time member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. People who have known him loved watching all his “Engineering projects”, he was always busy until he got sick in late December.
Lee is survived by his wife of 62 years, Molly Milnes VanStone of Coldwater; his children Leslie “Les” (Pam) VanStone of Coldwater, Lynn (Jim) Jordan of Noblesville, IN, and Layne VanStone of Ft. Wayne. He was an amazing grandfather to his grandchildren Ryan (Dee) VanStone, Zachary VanStone, Allie VanStone, Courtney Jordan, Jake Jordan, Jenna VanStone, and Carter VanStone; and special relatives, his brother and sister-n-law’s Bill and Jeanie Milnes.
