Leila Jane Vettel, 86 of Coldwater passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital while surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Northview Christian Church in Coldwater with Pastor Jeff Bream officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater from 4:00- 6:00 PM. A private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Leila was born June 6, 1931 to Herman and Henrietta (Grothwol) Christiansen in Sandusky, OH. On November 20, 1948 she married the love of her life Paul Vettel. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1998. Leila was a hardworking mother, raising her family and working at the Coldwater State Home as an attendant for 23 years, retiring shortly before the facility closed.

Leila was a woman of faith and a long-time member of Northview Christian Church. She belonged to the Red Hat Ladies club and was also active at the Burnside Senior Center. Leila liked crocheting, knitting, and playing games, especially cards. Her first priority was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered as a friendly, caring, and giving woman who was loved by many.

Mrs. Vettel is survived by her children Dale (Becky) Vettel of Homer, Sandy (Duane) Fry of Wyoming, MI, Jack (Cindy) Vettel of Hillsdale, Keith (Maggie) Vettel of Brainerd, MN, Chet Vettel of Bee Branch, AR, and Paula (Steven) Rose of Coldwater; her sister Anna Mae Fitz of Sandusky, OH; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; and her daughter Tammy Marie Vettel.
