Obituary for Joan M. Bartholomew

Joan Marie “GG” Bartholomew, 83, of Coldwater passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital after a long battle with a lengthy illness. In following her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Lockwood Community Church from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. A private interment at the Oak Grove Columbarium will take place at a later date. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home. Joan was born November 23, 1939 to Charles and Rosa (Down) Wilbur in Albion, MI. On December 15, 1962 she married the love of her life, Kerment Bartholomew in Angola, IN. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2006. Together they created many memories, especially while traveling on their Honda Goldwing after retirement. Spending time in Biloxi and at the up-north property in Baldwin was two of their favorite spots. Joan was a woman of strong faith, reading her bible on an almost daily basis. She also was a huge fan of Angles. Joan had a love of animals, especially her miniature Australian Shepherd Kahlua. GG and Kahlua were avid walkers, taking multiple walks every day. She and her daughter Torre traveled to many dog shows in which Torre was showing her Australian Shepherd dogs. Even though she lived in the city, being in the country was always a favorite place to go. Joan also spent many hours riding her bike around town. GG will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, being a good listener, and a great mom and grandmother. Mrs. Bartholomew is survived by her children Brad Flippen of Cleveland, TN and Torre (Tim) Waller of Coldwater; her siblings Jean (Jim) Toth, Charles “Chuck” (Kim) Wilbur, and Robert “Bob” (Helen) Wilbur all of Quincy; her grandchildren Kelsey Waller, Brandie (Andy) Kompier, Evan (Ashley) Waller, Bree Flippen, Hannah Flippen, and Arianna (Hunter) Wilkey; her great grandchildren Mason Kompier, Asher Hagerman, Paige Rodgers, Katie Waller, and Case Waller; other important people in her life were Anna (Buddy) Mills, Debbie Brooks and Dick Knisley; several nieces & nephews; and her dog “Kahlua”. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, Kerment Bartholomew. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Emphysema Foundation of America, or Save a Fox Corporation Fund. www.dutcherfh.com
