Obituary for Jim Walker

Alvin James “Jim” Walker, 77, of Coldwater passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Maple Lawn Medical Care facility in Coldwater. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Shayne Looper officiating. The family will receive guests for visitation Monday, July 18, 2022 from 12:00 Noon until time of service at the funeral home.
He was born November 11, 1944 to Alvin and Martha (Duty) Walker in Ft. Wayne, IN. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1969. His service and duty to his country was a part of his life that he greatly valued and carried on into not only his service to his community but also his family. On April 2, 1982 Jim married Dawn Cornoyer and she survives. Both Dawn and Jim are members of Lockwood Community Church in Coldwater; he had also been a member and former Commander of the Coldwater American Legion Drill Team Post 52. He was an avid deer hunter and always looked forward to his mushroom hunts with Dave Meyer. Jim enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings but above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Dawn, Jim leaves behind his children Alvin Walker, Corey Walker, Michelle Pittmon all of Ft. Wayne, IN, Anita (Tom) Moore of Battle Creek, Wendy (Dave) Meyer of Quincy, Shannon (Mike) Buckley of Hartsville, TN; his sister Sharon Beckmon of Ft. Wayne, IN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Lester Williams, and his son Joseph Harmon.
