Jerry L. Wiler, 77 of Bronson passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Jerry was born October 14, 1940 to Lawrence and Dorothy (Berger) Wiler at home in Pittsford, MI. On June 25, 1960 he married Sandra Mahaffey. She preceded him in death on February 26, 1981. After graduation from Bronson High School, he began his long working career. He worked for many years at Douglas Auto before becoming a truck driver. After the passing of his wife Sandra, he changed careers to be closer to home becoming a machinist with Burr Oak Tool and later Advanced Specialty Tools before retiring.

Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for fishing and hunting. He was a man with many friends, and was set in his ways. He always put his family first. His true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “grandpa grumpy.”

Jerry is survived by children Jerry (Rhonda) Wiler II of Union City, Trina (David) Powers of Fremont, IN, Lawrence “LD” (Teeka) Wiler of Union City, and Dodie (Jeffery) Vaccaro of Bronson; his siblings Phyllis VanAken of Colon, Robert (Sharon) Wiler of Whitehall, Karen (Mike) Manchester of Caledonia, Laura (Linda) Wiler of Zeeland, Cynthia Hyska of Angola, and Douglas (Dixie) Wiler of Holland; his grandchildren Kiefer and Kody Wiler, Sierra McDiarmid, Philip “PJ” VanVleet, Bryan (Beth) VanVleet, Naomi Godfrey, Heydon Lown, Amber (Jonathon) Schmidt, Brandi Powers, Shelby and Ethan Wiler, Steven, Nicolas, and Allen Pickett, Katelyn (Tony) Myers, Kassandra Cary, Nathan and Matthew Vaccaro; his great grandchildren Mariah, Jayce & River VanVleet, Dylan & Olivia VanVleet, Reese & Ryenn Godfrey, and Jaxon Yearling; many nieces & nephews; and his dog “Molly.” He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sandra, and his brother James Wiler.
