Obituary for Jeffrey J. "Jeff" Sparer

Jeffrey “Jeff” John Sparer, 61 of Coldwater passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the University of Michigan Hospital due to complications of Covid-19.

In following his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will have a celebration of Jeff’s life at a later date. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Jeffrey was born December 23, 1960 to Vernon and Shirley (Dettman) Sparer in Lackawanna, NY. Shortly after graduation from high school, he began a long working career as an over-the-road owner operator. He worked with Prime Transportation doing long-haul to Kansas City for many years. Jeff was an entrepreneur at heart and started his first business at age 13. He had to retire in 2006 due to health reasons. On September 5, 1998 he married Donna Barrett in Orchard Park, NY. Together they made many memories.

Jeff was a member of the Trucker’s Association. He was a big fan of the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing. Jeff was a talented woodworker, building many types of projects. He enjoyed going camping at Cade’s Cove and driving his golf cart. Jeff will be remembered for his gentle heart and kind soul. He was an independent man who was willing to do anything for others. Jeff’s true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 23 years, Donna Sparer of Coldwater; his children Daniel “DJ” (Jessica) Raab of Port Huron, Christopher Raab of Coldwater, and Kevin (Jessica G.) Raab of Columbus, MI; his siblings Sharon (Don) Lauffer of Orchard Park, NY, Randy (Leoma) Sparer of Andover, MN, and Bonnie Klatt of MN; his grandchildren Blake, Joseph, Mayleigh “Mo”, Avery Rae, Christopher Jr., Zindel, Gavin, and Konrad; many nieces & nephews; and his dogs Tequilla, Furge, Scooter, and Isabella. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law John Klatt; and his niece Sara Lauffer.
