Obituary for Jane L. Tyler Dally Randall

Jane Dally Randall, a longtime Coldwater resident and businesswoman, died on February 17, 2022 at the age of 100. Jane was born July 7, 1921 in Jackson, Michigan to Hugh A. and Flora Hood Tyler. At 3 years old, the family moved to Coldwater, Michigan where she graduated with the class of 1939. After graduation, she worked in the office of Dr. Hap Weidner and then Montgomery Ward. On April 5, 1941 she married Olin Dally in Coldwater.

During World War II, she lived in Fresno and Marysville, California until Olin’s company was sent to India. After his return, Coldwater became their home.

As partners, they formed Dally Tire Company and after Olin’s death in 1975, she continued as president. She served on the Board of Directors of Southern Michigan National Bank and Trust. She later graduated from Kellogg Community College.

Jane married Harold Randall, a widower, on September 2, 1978.

She was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church serving as Senior Warden. At the diocese she served on the Commission on Ministry and received the Bishop’s Service Cross from Bishop Bennison. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and playing golf.

As a widow, she liked going on river cruises with a group of Coldwater friends. These took her to Russia, Turkey, and Greece. A special trip was to China where she saw the Terra-cotta Soldiers and walked on the Great Wall of China.

The best times were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Visiting PawPaw Lake, Burt Lake, and Sanibel Island, Florida were special times.

Jane is survived by her children, Ann (David) Shneider, Jill Mosshamer, Craig (Mary) Dally, and Tod (Debbie) Dally. The Randall family includes Dick (Teresa) Randall, Bob Randall, Bill (Judy) Randall, and David (Louise) Randall. She leaves 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren on the Dally side. She leaves 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren on the Randall side. Many nieces and nephews also held a very special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betsy, brothers Fon and Hugh H. Tyler, step- daughter Joan Randall Hill, and husbands Olin Dally and Harold Randall.

A private interment of ashes will be held later this week with her family. A Celebration of Life service will be held in May. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Choir, the Branch Area Food Pantry, or the charity of your choice.
