Jim was born in Alma, Michigan on November 20, 1935 to John D. and Lillian (Ringle) Vozar.
He was a graduate of Ithaca High School, Class of 1953, attended Alma College and was a graduate of Michigan State University.
Jim married Susanne Wells of St. Louis, Michigan on October 11, 1957 at the St. Louis, Methodist Church. They shared nearly 64 years together and the union produced three children, Mary Ann Vozar Robinson, Nancy Lynn Vozar Fraser (Bryan) and Michael James Vozar (Dawn).
Businessman, former President of James R. Vozar Insurance Agency in Quincy, MI, cattleman, rancher and farmer, Jim was active in civic organizations, former Ithaca Jaycee president, Quincy Rotary former president, a Paul Harris Fellow and served on various boards including First of America Bank, Branch County Federal/Monarch Bank, Quincy Industries, Inc. in North Adams, MI and Michigan Regional Housing and others.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was proud of the fact that his June 21, 2013 Muskie catch was the 2nd largest Muskie ever caught in the state of Michigan. He released that catch back into the Grand Traverse Bay, saying such great genetics should stay in the fisheries.
Jim is survived by his wife, Susanne Wells Vozar, their children, grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Luttig (Urban) of Fowler, MI. Jim was predeceased by his parents and an infant brother Kenneth.
We want to express our deep gratitude and thanks to Jim’s “Drew’s Family” for the concerned and compassionate care that Jim and our family received from them during the time he was in their care. They were truly a bright spot in difficult times.
