James M. "Jim"  Sobie
James ‘Jim” Michael Sobie, 57 of Coldwater, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at his home.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bronson. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Jim was born October 18, 1960 to Edward Eugene and Barbara June (Lawniczak) Sobie Sr. in Coldwater. He was a 1978 graduate of Coldwater High School. Jim had worked for 5 years at Sportsman Bar in Coldwater as the kitchen manager and chef and then went on to work for Ceres Solutions (formerly North Central Co-Op) as an Agronomist from 2007 until currently.
He received his small engine and diesel certification from the Branch Area Career Center in 1978. Jim loved to travel the United States, ride his motorcycle, garden, tend to his house plants, being with friends, making people laugh but he especially loved spending time with his granddaughters.
Jim is survived by his daughter; Jamie L. Goldey of Battle Creek, his grandchildren; Hannah and Alyssa Kalhorn both of Battle Creek, his siblings; Edward Eugene Sobie Jr. of Albion, Michael Sobie of Bronson, Robert (Connie) Sobie and Debra (Ted) Gigowski of Coldwater, his step mother; Vonnie Sobie of Constantine, his half-brother; John (Jamie) Sobie, his step-brother; Ron Inmon, his step-sisters; Donna Cook, Patricia Watson, Pamela Inmon and Ruth Sailor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
