Obituary for James C. Lyon

James “Jim” Cleon Lyon, 82 of Coldwater passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Hillsdale
Medical Care Facility.

In following his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private burial will be done at Wilson
Cemetery. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

James was born February 7, 1938 to Cleon and Rachel (Hall) Lyon in Lansing, MI. He graduated
from Grand Ledge High School. James was a hardworking man. He was a district manager for
Coca-Cola for 20 plus years. Jim then owned and operated Action Quick Print in Sturgis for over
20 years before selling the business. He was proud to have served his country in the Army
National Guard.

James was very involved in the Coldwater community. He was a proud 50 year member of the
Noon Rotary. He received an award for perfect attendance. James was awarded the Paul Harris
Fellowship Award for his community service. He was also a member and Past Exalted Ruler of
the Coldwater Elks. Jim enjoyed being outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing. His true joy
in life was being around his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Lyon is survived by his children Denice (Arnie) Raymond of Ceresco, Jayann (Wayne
Barnes) Avery of Coldwater, Teresa Bailey of Coldwater, Jim (Bonnie) Lyon of Coldwater, and
Angela (Ross) Rubley of Hamilton; his sister Barbara (Al) Goodwin of Traverse City; his
grandchildren Matt & Margie Avery , Shelly & Mark Niemann, Steven & Emily Lonsbury,
Sarah & Brandon Sweet, Rachel & Devin Hagaman, Richard Bailey, Christina Holibough (&
Justin) , Janet & Darin Hale, David Bailey, Alexandra Lyon, Kaylani Rubley Josh Rubley (&
Anna), and Kyler Rubley (& Mallory) and 19 great grandchildren also, his former wife Deanna
Gottschalk (Jerry Murphy)of Coldwater; several nieces & nephews; and his special friends Fred
McClain, Margaret Rose, the Rigot family (Wes, Connie, and Zachary), and the Warkoczeski
family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary, and son-in-law Robert
(Bob) Avery.

Memorials may be directed to the Coldwater Elks Scholarship Fund, Noon Rotary Scholarship
