Obituary for James Wesley "Jim" Lewis
James Wesley “Jim” Lewis, 75, of Coldwater passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital of Battle Creek. A funeral service will be held in Jim’s honor on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater, MI with Pastor Patrick Baughman officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard Township, MI. The family will receive guests for visitation on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
He was born September 11, 1947 to John and Vera (Harper) Lewis II in Coldwater, MI. Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; upon his return home, he was employed as a tool and die maker with Coldwater Sintered Metals where he ultimately retired from. On November 22, 2002 Jim married Paula Stephens in Coldwater and she survives.
Jim was a wonderful man that was not only dedicated to the service of his country but those around him as well. He was a Paid Up For Life member of the Two Rivers American Legion Post 165 in Two Rivers, WI, member of the NRA, and a proud Vietnam Veteran. Jim was a committed little league baseball coach and had served as a little league umpire until his health no longer permitted him to do so. He enjoyed bowling and loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and farming were among his favorites; but what he cherished above all was campfires and time well spent with his family. Jim will be dearly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.
In addition to his wife Paula, Jim leaves behind his children Jason (Kathy) Lewis of Bay City, MI, Jimmy (Victoria Lindzy) Lewis of Las Vegas, NV, Joe Lewis of Coldwater, Jeff (Rachel) Lewis of DeFuniak, FL; his step-children Angela (Howie) Murray of Plainfield, IL, Doug (Rachael) Toedte of Ft. Wayne, IN; his 9 grandchildren, his many loving nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Josie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers John and Jerry Lewis.
