James “Jim” Robert Gibson, 79, of New Boston passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton, MI. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 10, 2021 at 1:00PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2021 from 1-5:00PM at the funeral home. A private burial of ashes will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy.
Jim was born May 26, 1941 to Robert and Agnes (Remey) Gibson in Angola, IN. Jim had been a truck driver until his retirement. He honorably served his country with the United States Navy. He married Mary Beth Nelligan, she preceded him in death in 2002. James was a strong willed man that loved being with his family whether it was drinking, shooting guns, or just playing fun jokes on them for a good laugh. He enjoyed fishing and he could always be counted on if anyone needed a helping hand.
James is survived by his daughter Bobbie (Don Hoover) Havert of Kendallville, IN, his grandchildren Kyle (Mikayla Duncan) Gibson of Montgomery, MI, Thomas (Brittney Couch) Strine of Clayton, MI, Erik (Erica Dodane) Havert of Wolcottville, IN, and his two great grandchildren Keygan and Ever Lilly Gibson.
In addition to his wife Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Delores who passed in 2020.
