Homer E.  McCowan
Homer E. McCowan went to meet our Lord on March 29, 2018. Homer was 87 years old and was a Christian for the majority of his life. His most precious gift and love was his music. He played acoustic,electric and bass guitar as well as the mandolin. He began playing at the age of eight years old with a natural ability to play by ear and never used sheet music. He composed several gospel songs that he has recorded.

Our beloved father used his God given talent to make music for our Lord's honor. He sang and played music at the Christian Pilgrim Church with pastor Charles Sparks for many years. He lead the congregational singing during church services. He played music and sang with various groups including the Wasepi Bluegrass Gospel Band and the Bluegrass Gospel Travelers. He travelled extensively with those bands. His accomplishments are too numerous to list.

Homer has been involved with the Sonshine Gang entertaining and spreading the gospel to residents at both Maple Lawn and the Laurels along with his wife, Gertrude (Trudy) Cline.

Surviving is his son, Ricky McCowan and two daughters, Doris (Richard) Lyon and Doreen Buckner (Dennis Mosley). He has six grandchildren,
Michelle (Randy) San Anton, Joe McCowan(Kelley Wood) Nicholas(Monica)McCowan, Corey McCowan, Bryce McCowan, Stacy (Eric) Thompson. Eight great grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew San Anton, Ayla, Gabe and Corinth McCowan.

Homer has one living brother, AC McCowan. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Tennie McCowan, his parents, four sisters and two brothers. Also preceding him in death were two sons, Ronnie McCowan age 8 years, Roger McCowan age 49 years. Homer has three stepchildren with his wife, Gertrude (Trudy) Cline. They are daughters Debra (Gerry) Fish, Patricia (Robert) McBride and son Michael (Inge) Merritt.

Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater will host his visitation from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 3, with the funeral service immediately following. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery following the service.
