Obituary for Gwendola M. Sours

Gwendola Marie Sours, 82, of Bronson, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021. She died at home surrounded by her family with her grandson, John, holding her hand and Conway Twitty singing in the background.
Gwendola was born in Coldwater, MI to Bert & Julia Marie (Wilson) Plettner on November 19, 1938. She was the oldest of four children and was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Viola, and former husband Melvin.
Gwen was a dedicated mother who loved horses, Elvis, “real” country & western music, crossword puzzles, scratch-off lottery tickets, traveling, baking and playing euchre with her friends, the Red Hat Ladies. Gwen was happiest when she was cooking and baking for her house full of kids, grandkids and great grandkids, and when she was visiting with her girlfriends, nick named The Bitties. She often referred to her home as Grand Central Station.
Gwen’s places of employment include Federal Mogul in Mendon, Bronson Plastics and Maxitrol (Colmers) in Colon. In addition to her full-time jobs, she worked part-time as a bartender while raising five kids, and helping raise her grandson, John. After retiring, she took a Friday morning job at Allegis Credit Union as the popcorn lady.
Gwen is survived by her children Melvin Sours, Roberta Sours, Troy (Mary) Sours all in Bronson, Monica Case in Angola, IN, Pam (Kelly) Sours in Ann Arbor; siblings Lowell (Sandy) Plettner in Union City, Wynona (Harold) Moss in Bronson; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
