Obituary for Geraldine Coscarelly
Geraldine Coscarelly, 87, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 at Grand Vista Assisted Living.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Geraldine was born August 10, 1935 in Coldwater, MI to Joseph & Ermelinda (Lopez) Coscarelly and graduated from Siena Heights College in 1957. Her love for children led her to a career in elementary education, teaching her first few years at St. Pius and Christ the Good Sheperd schools in the Detroit area. Geraldine spent most of her career at Jefferson Elementary School in Coldwater, 3rd Grade, retiring in 1992. In earlier years, she worked at her family confectionary, The Bluebird.
Geraldine was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, and both the National and Michigan Education Associations. She enjoyed reading, socializing with friends and traveling, especially after her retirement. Never having children of her own, Geraldine adored her many nieces and nephews. Using one word to describe their aunt, unanimously, they said “generous”.
Geraldine is survived by her sister Phyllis Coscarelly, sister-in-law Barbara Coscarelly; her nieces and nephews Theresa, Christine, Mary Jane, Catherine, Susan, Herb, David, Christopher, Joseph, Tim, Craig and Dan and many great nieces and nephews, who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her brothers Gerald and Herbert Coscarelly and a very close cousin Pauline DePaolo.
