Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Fast

Gerald "Jerry"  Fast
Gerald “Jerry” J. Fast, 78, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at home.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case officiating. Visitation will take place from 3:00 until 4:00 PM prior to the memorial service at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Jerry was born November 30, 1939 to John O. and Elnora (Cobb) Fast in Angola, Indiana. After graduating from Angola High School, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy on December 10, 1956 and was honorably discharged on June 2, 1958 and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. on June 3, 1958 and was honorably discharged on December 9, 1962 attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. He married Phyllis J. Slack on February 5, 1966 in Coldwater.
Jerry worked as a maintenance supervisor at Florence Crane Prison in Coldwater retiring in 2004. Prior to working at the correctional facility, he was a self-employed licensed contractor for over 30 years in the Coldwater area.
He was a member of the Coldwater Eagles Post # 1907, Angola VFW Post #7205 and the Angola American Legion Post #31. Jerry enjoyed hanging out at the Willow’s in Coldwater, fishing and gardening.
Jerry is survived by his wife; Phyllis, his children; John C. (Ana) Fast of Coldwater, Connie J. (Steven) Hurd of Harrison Twp., Julie A. (Alan) Thompson of Coleraine, Northern Ireland, Dodi Travelbee of Stryker, Ohio and Laura Puga of Las Vegas, Nevada, his 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
