Obituary for Gary L. Holbrook Sr.
Gary L. Holbrook, Sr., 77, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
A private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard with Pastor Mark Case from California Community Church officiating. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Gary was born July 2, 1944 in Van Wert, Ohio to Maurice & Vernal “Ginny” (Book) Holbrook. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1961 and married the love of his life Nancy Richardson on February 10, 1961 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coldwater. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2022.
Mr. Holbrook owned and operated Holbrook and Son Construction for many years. Gary and Nancy were avid trap and sports shooters. Together they belonged to the Amateur Trapshooting Association and the Michigan Trapshooting Association. They enjoyed traveling to Florida and riding motorcycles. Gary was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and skiing.
Gary is survived by his children Gary “Butch” (Darlyn) Holbrook, Jr. of Bronson, Darlene Grove of Summerville, SC, Brenda (Marty) Miller of Clarkston, MI; his grandchildren Danielle (Steven) Peeples, Elisha Grove-Rayman, Sarah (Kaleb Laurie) Holbrook, Mason (Nicky James) Miller and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and his son-in-law Mike Grove.
