Obituary for Gary Burkhardt
Gary Burkhardt, 80, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Gary was born February 5, 1942 in White Lake, MI to Raymond & Hilda (Hargraves) Burkhardt. He attended Alma College and graduated from Eastern MI University in 1967, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Gary married Barbara J. Place on August 1, 1964 in Detroit.
Mr. Burkhardt worked in bank management for most of his career. He began at the National Bank of Detroit in 1967 and from 1973 – 2004 he worked for Century Bank and Trust in Coldwater, retiring as bank President.
Gary dedicated much time to his community through volunteering and serving on various community boards. He was especially fond of the Branch County Literacy Council where he tutored adults and taught them to read. Gary was a computer enthusiast and belonged to the Coldwater Elks and the Moose Lodge. He was also very active with the Michigan Bankers Association where he held many positions.
Gary is survived by his wife Barb, his son Kris Burkhardt of Chicago, IL and his grandchildren Zoe & Gage Burkhardt and their mother Melissa of Elmhurst, IL. He was preceded in death by his brother Gene Burkhardt and his sister Glenda Richmond.
