Obituary for Ernest Anthony Nagy

Ernest Anthony Nagy, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at his home in Coldwater. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Coldwater American Legion, time to be determined. Burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Friday, May 20, 2022. Arrangements cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Ernest was born September 20, 1930 to Frank and Caroline (Beti) Nagy in Dearborn, MI. Ernest proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean conflict. On April 24, 1954 he married Dorothy Mae Opavsky in Angola, IN, she preceded him in death on February 19, 2020. After his service in the Army, Ernest returned home to a career working for the city of Dearborn until his retirement and ultimately moving to Coldwater with his wife Dorothy. He had been a member of the Dearborn and Coldwater American Legions, the Amvets in Dearborn, and both the Coldwater Eagles and Moose Lodge. His service to both his country and fellow veterans was always something he greatly valued. Ernest enjoyed the outdoors spending many of his years hunting and fishing, but sharing those experiences with his family is what he treasured most.
Ernest leaves behind his nieces and nephews Robert (Marygrace) Nagy of Coldwater, Ernest (Audrey) Nagy of Whittemore, MI, Debra (Robert) Erickson of Taylor, MI, Darlene (Keith) Edmunds of Gaylord, MI, David (Margaret) Nagy of Dearborn Heights, his loving great nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Frank, Louis, Joe, and William Nagy.
