Obituary for Ellen Smith
Ellen Louise Smith, 98, of Coldwater passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022 at home. A private interment of cremains will be held.
Ellen was born November 18, 1923 in Girard Township to James Lynn and Hazel A. Farwell. She married Sumner Donald Smith on June 20, 1948 at the Girard Methodist Church. Sumner preceded her in death on March 14, 2020.
Ellen graduated from Coldwater High School in 1941 and attended Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti. She worked for many years at the Branch County Abstract Office. She was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church, the Lambda Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and volunteered with the American Red Cross Blood Donor Program for many years.
Ellen is survived by daughter Rhonda (Donald) Sizemore of Ann Arbor, sons Vaughn (Susan) Smith of Quincy and Dane (Sacha) Farwell of Woodland Hills, CA; her grandchildren Rebecca (Nathan) Trevethan of Brooklyn, NY, Christopher (Beth) Sizemore of Denver, CO, Steven Smith of Chicago, IL, Michael Schmidt, and Kevin (Lori) Schmidt of Quincy, MI, and James (Karissa) Schmidt of Huntsville, AL; several great grandchildren; her nieces Kathy (Jeff) Culy, Karen (Bernard) Friend, Gloria (Rick) Aldrich and nephew Richard (Bonnie) Martinson.
