Obituary for Edella "Gloria" M. Watson

Edella M. “Gloria” Watson, 93, of Coldwater, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at her home.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor John Baker from World Harvest Worship Center of Quincy officiating. Interment will follow at Batavia Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 Noon at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Gloria was born April 14, 1924 in Detroit, MI to Carl & Adella (Weissert) Spade. She married Herman W. Watson on January 6, 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA, he preceded her in death in 2008.
Mrs. Watson worked as a long distance telephone operator for Michigan Bell in Detroit during WWII, eventually transferring to Pennsylvania Bell Telephone in Pittsburgh. Gloria later became an LPN, working for the Community Health Center of Branch County, retiring after 21 years of service.
Gloria along with her husband, Herman, owned and operated the Shady Rest Lake Resort for many years. Mrs. Watson had a great love of art, belonging to the Art Guild and spent much time drawing and painting. She used her creativity to do lapidary work which is the art of cutting stones. Gloria loved to bird watch, especially for cardinals and garden. In earlier years she was actively involved in 4-H, she enjoyed traveling and visiting museums.
Gloria is survived by her children Diane Hoskins of Coldwater, Roberta Watson of Tulsa, OK, Rick Watson of Byron, IL, her sister Sylvia Marshall of Jackson and 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Michael and Victor Spade and sisters Sally Albright and Joan Spade.
