Donald Schoch Obituary

Don passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 13, 2022. He was born May 31, 1940 in Williamsville NY to the late Milton and Gertrude (Brickel) Schoch. Remembered as a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Golfer, Wrestler, and an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills.

He grew up on a farm, the stories of his childhood experiences with his Mom & Dad, brothers and sister are cherished. Attending Williamsville High School, he met Patricia (Pat) Rew his high school sweetheart and 1st love of his life. They married in 1960 and soon began a family, with daughter Suzanne Marie Schoch and then son Donald Paul Schoch Jr. The family moved to their Webster NY home in 1969 and Don started his long career with Eastman Kodak. He retired after 29 years of service with Kodak in 1998. Retirement started in Kiawah Is. South Carolina before moving to Lake Jovita FL. After the passing of Patricia in 2003, Don met the second love of his life Sharon Kolassa. They married in 2009 and lived in both Lake Jovita and Bronson MI. early in their marriage before making Bronson their full year residence.

A prolific Wrestler for both Williamsville HS and the University of Buffalo, Don went on to graduate from the University of Buffalo with master’s in economics. While he enjoyed and excelled in most sports, he settled in on playing golf and watching his beloved Buffalo Bills.

Preceded in death by his parents Milton and Gertrude, his 1st wife Patricia. Don is survived by his wife Sharon Kolassa, two children Suzanne (Ken Kittredge) Schoch and Don (Mary) Schoch Jr., his siblings Norman (Renee), Milton (Jane), Jeanne (James) Spong. He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren Michael, Heather, Michelle, Brenda as well as all the Kolassa family he joined in 2009; Sharon’s daughters Michelle (Terry) Jennifer (Jay) and grandchildren Kathryn, Riley and Allie.

He was a beacon in all our lives and will be greatly missed.
