Obituary for Dennis L. Rubley
Dennis LeRoy Rubley, 69, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Parkview Randallia Hospice Care in Ft. Wayne, IN.
The funeral will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Private interment will follow at Bronson Cemetery. Visitation will be held, prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Dennis was born March 4, 1952 in Sturgis, MI to Gerald & Patricia (Scanlon) Rubley. He graduated from Bronson High School in 1970 and from Spring Arbor College in 1974, with a degree in accounting. Dennis worked for Wick Homes until the company left the area. He spent the rest of his career at the Coldwater Daily Reporter until his retirement in 2015. He was often the person who delivered a paper to a customer after hours.
Dennis married the love of his life, Cheryl A. Cattell, on August 26, 1995. They began a life full of love for each other and for Jesus Christ that brought joy to them and the people around them. They became Coldwater’s Mr. and Mrs. Claus for many years. The beagles they adopted enriched their family for many years as they truly loved their four legged children. They enjoyed visiting civil war historical sites. Cheryl passed away in 2010, leaving Dennis sad, but with many great memories.
Dennis loved the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines. He also loved to umpire softball and Little League baseball. Years ago, you could find Dennis acting on stage at Tibbits Opera House. He was a huge fan of the Moody Blues, attending many of their concerts and his sense of humor livened up many doctor’s office visits.
Dennis is survived by his brother David (Del) Rubley of Coldwater; nephew Jason Rubley of Jersey City, NJ, niece Gretchen (Eric) Leese; great nephews Nick and Michael Leese all of Frankfort, IL; his mother-in-law June Cattell and his brother-in-law Marlin (Reba) Cattell. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his special children Molly, Peanut and Shannon.
