Deborah Jane “Deb” Stellhorn, 66 of Coldwater passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at her home.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Monday, May 21, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Deborah was born May 6, 1952 to Jack and Lucy (Flinchum) Stellhorn in Fort Wayne, IN. She stayed in Fort Wayne through earning her Master’s in Social Work through the University of St. Francis. She also earned her Bachelor Degree in Education. Debbie worked Community Mental Health in Coldwater, Texas, Wabash and Warsaw, IN as a case worker before becoming a Guidance Counselor and Assstant Principal at North Manchester (IN) Junior High, retiring in 2009. She spent a lot of time working with children in various causes and programs, even hosting camp for foster children.
Deb was a woman of faith and a past member of Reformation Lutheran Church in Coldwater. She was a creative woman of many talents involving crafts. Deb was a seamstress, making clothing for family and friends for many special events and occasions. She enjoyed spending time at the family lake cottage, where she doted on her nieces and nephews. Debbie always put her family first, being a devoted care-giver to her parents and making time for everyone. She will be remembered for her love of animals, being a compassionate and caring woman.
Deborah is survived by her father Jack Stellhorn of Coldwater; her brother Dewayne (Donna) Northcutt of Midland, TX; her sister and best friend DiAnna (David) Fleckenstein of Holt, MI; her nieces very involved in her life, Amanda Fleckenstein and Elizabeth (Keith) Fleckenstein-Wing; other nieces & nephews Tammy Sprunger, Kerri Northcutt, DeDi Northcutt, John (Donna) Northcutt, Lance (Adrianna) Northcutt; light of her life, great niece & nephew Lucy and Charlie Fleckenstein-Wing,; numerous great, and great-great nieces & nephews; her dog “Casey” and her cat “Kadee”. She was preceded in death by her mother Lucy.
