Obituary for Clifford "Cliff" Bowers, Jr.
Clifford H. Bowers, Jr., 89, of Coldwater, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, November 28, 2022 from 4-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater and again on Tuesday, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Church.
Cliff was born March 13, 1933 in Hillsdale, MI to Clifford and Jean (Chaney) Bowers. He served in the US Army, military police, during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. Cliff married Sandra Hiser on September 3, 1955 in Ft. Wayne, IN. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2017.
Mr. Bowers was a social worker for Coldwater Regional Center for 25 years, retiring in 1988 as the Director of Resident Affairs. He was a member of St. Charles Church, the Quincy American Legion and past president of both the Lions Club and the State Employee Retiree Association. Cliff was an outdoorsman who enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home and spending time in Florida. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Cliff is survived by his sons, Cliff (Linda) Bowers, III of Quincy, Kevin (Pamela) Bowers, James (Debora) Bowers, Chris (Jill) Bowers all of Coldwater; his sister Johanna Ferguson-Hippensteel of Quincy; his grandchildren Nicole (Seth) Butters, Nathan (Katie) Bowers, Kelsey (Joseph) Closson, Kyle (Cairee) Bowers, Sonya Bowers, Gabrielle (Thomas) May, Adam (Kimberly) Bowers, Shelby (Justin Fairfield) Bowers, Tanner Bowers and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jim and Bruce Bowers and his grandson Clifford “Cliffie” Bowers.
