Obituary for Claude Walter Coleman

Claude Walter Coleman, 88, of Coldwater passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at his home on Coldwater Lake surrounded by his family.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Coldwater on a future date. A burial of ashes will take place at Union Udell Cemetery in Ypsilanti Township, MI. Funeral arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Claude was born December 2, 1934 to Paul and Kate (Collyer) Coleman in Dearborn, MI. Claude honorably served his country in the United States Army from October 1958 to October 1960. On August 17, 1963 he married Frances J. Bridgeman who preceded him in death on July 9, 2014.

Claude was an engineer employed by Ford Motor Company in the Design Center in Dearborn, MI. He was a member the First Presbyterian Church of Coldwater where he served as the church Treasurer, Elder, Deacon and Trustee. He was instrumental in keeping The First Presbyterian Church a Historical Building of which the congregation and community are very proud. Claude was also a member of the Coldwater Noon Club and the Fraternal Order of Masons. Claude designed the family home at Coldwater Lake where he loved boating, water skiing, and golfing. He was a fun-loving man who enjoyed classic cars, and who valued most, the time spent with his many friends and loving family.

Claude leaves behind his children Steven (Gina DeNapoli) Coleman of White Lake, MI, Debra Coleman of Coldwater; his sister Coline Coleman of Northville, MI; his granddaughter Renee Coleman; great-grandson Shaun Coleman; his nephews James (Debra) Wilkie, Robert (Bobby Ann Sprouse) Wilkie, great niece Alyssa Wilkie, and his beloved dog Tilly.

In addition to his wife Frances, he was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Taylor Coleman.
