Obituary for Clair Eugene Shafer

Clair Eugene Shafer, 67, of Quincy, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Drews Place of Coldwater.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Harold Jewell from the Oasis of Love officiating. Visitation will be held, prior to the service, on Friday, May 20, 2022 beginning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment of ashes will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard.
Clair was born May 1, 1954 in Coldwater, MI to Rolland and Helen (Burch) Shafer. He married Kristine Olney on May 29, 1976.
Mr. Shafer honorably served his country with the United States Navy from 1975 - 1981 and the United States Army from 1982 - 2002. He retired from his career as a military electronic technician after 26 years of service.
Clair was a former member of the Oasis of Love Church and followed all auto sports, even racing go-karts himself. He enjoyed playing guitar, searching for Indian artifacts, mushroom hunting and restoring antique tractors. Clair was an avid gardener and especially loved to share his harvest with friends and family. The family would like to express their gratitude to Drews Place of Coldwater for their tender and loving care provided to Clair.
Clair is survived by his wife Kristine, his siblings Linda Palmer of Coldwater, Colleen (Dennison) Fadden of Hillsdale, Brenda Hapner of Coldwater, and his loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Keith Shafer.
