Charles E. May, 90, of Coldwater, left this world peacefully, in his sleep at home on Friday, November 4, 2022. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM at East Gilead Cemetery with Pastor Mark Case from California Community Church officiating. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Charles was born May 30, 1932 in Bronson, MI to Edwin & Irene (Nutt) May. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1950 and served in the US Navy from January of 1952 – December of 1956, spending most of his time aboard the USS George Clymer APA-27.
Charles returned to Coldwater and devoted the next 30 years to working for Federal Mogul. During that time he spent many years coaching and winning trophies for girls and women’s softball, including his sister’s team, leading them to the state championship finals. Charles had many passions. He built homes on a dime and was skilled in Tae Kwon Do. He was an avid hunter, golfer and musician, even playing guitar and singing at the Goodie Shop.
Charles is survived by his forever love for the past 63 years Phyllis Coscarelly of Coldwater; his sister Beverly Eberts of Coldwater; his nephew Roger (Ida) Savage of Coldwater, nieces Therese Washington of Scottsdale, AZ and Claudette (Brad) Tripp of Eureka Springs, AR. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Quimby and his brother Max May.
