Obituary for Charles H. Houtz
Charles H. Houtz, 76, of Coldwater passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark Case officiating at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Charles was born October 13, 1946 to Duane and Carrie Houtz in Norwalk, OH. Charles was a Coldwater High School graduate where he then went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy for two tours during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home, Charles began his longstanding career with the Operating & Engineers Local 12 as a heavy equipment operator. On August 11, 1997 he married Helen A. Myschack and she survives. Charles was a dedicated member of the Coldwater American Legion, Coldwater Eagles, and the Coldwater Moose Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. Charles also liked bowling and always looked forward to going dancing with his wife Helen. He will be dearly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
In addition to his wife Helen, Charles leaves behind his son Charles (Martha) Houtz Jr. of Ft. Worth, TX; his step-son Aaron (Julia) Gill of Ventura, CA; his brother Lynn (Nancy) Houtz of Quincy; his 2 grandchildren Andrew Houtz and Elma Gill and his loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Candy Dinsmore.
