Obituary for Carolyn M. Rarick

Carolyn Marie Rarick, 86 of East Leroy passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at her home while surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Burlington Church of God with Pastor’s David Rails and Phil Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery in Leroy Township. Visitation will be on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Carolyn was born October 24, 1932 to Ivan and Eva (Cutchall) Gilbert in Burlington Township. She graduated from Union City High School in 1950. Carolyn was a hardworking woman, raising her family while spending 36 years at Post Cereal in Battle Creek as a Lab Tech. She retired in 1991.

Carolyn was woman of faith and a long-time member of the Burlington Church of God and also the Post 25 Year Club. She was a woman with many interests. Carolyn enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She also liked to play games, cards, and do puzzles, including Sudoku. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family. While raising her family, they took trips all over the country. Family gatherings were always a priority, especially making sure that everyone had enough to eat. Carolyn will be remembered for her big heart, kind spirit, and making sure she had the last word in a conversation. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Rarick is survived by her children Charles “Alan” (Lynn) Rarick of South Haven, Rodney Rarick of East Leroy, and Tonya Rarick of Athens; her sister-in-law’s Janet Gilbert of Coldwater and Thera Gilbert of Union City; her grandchildren Holly (Don) Ash, Ryan (Rebekah) Rarick, Andrew Rarick, and Jamal Rarick; her great grandchildren Sarah Hanson, Caitlin Ash, Steven Follett, and David Rarick; her great, great granddaughter Emery Bunn; her special nieces Jeanine Miller, Debbie Richar, and Dorcas Roberts; many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Barton Gilbert Rarick; her infant grandson Jarred Rarick and her brothers Cletus and Douglas Gilbert.
