Obituary for Burton E. "Gene" Gratz

Burton “Gene” E. Gratz, 56, of Quincy, formerly of Florida and Hawaii, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the home of his sister.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Bonnie and Jim Toth’s residence. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Gene was born on September 26, 1962 in Coldwater to Burton and Bonna Jean (Bassage) Gratz- VanHoosear.
Gene graduated from Litchfield High School, he then directly enlisted into the United States Army. He served honorably from 1981 to 1990. After serving in the military, he worked as a chef in Hawaii and in Florida for many years. Gene loved spending time with his family and friends and sharing stories. He also enjoyed cooking and listening to music. Gene will be missed as being a gentleman with a very big and generous heart.
He is survived by his father Burton Gratz of Arcadia, Florida; his son Kenny Tejkel of Zindorf-Bayern, Germany; his granddaughter; his sisters, Brenda Lindberg of Hanover, Belinda Gratz-Carr of Bronson, Cheryl (Mark) Palm of Coldwater, Bonnie (Jim) Toth of Coldwater and Paula (David) Peterson of Quincy, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
