Obituary for Buddy A. Ryder

Buddy Alan Ryder, 53, of Hillsdale passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 15, 2022 at his home. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bronson, MI. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Buddy was born August 11, 1968 to Virgil F. and Betty R. (Milliner) Ryder in Richmond, VA. He resided on Squirrel Level Road in Dinwiddie VA for the first few years of his life. He was then raised by Edward & Marie Gump in Howe Indiana. Buddy was a graduate of Lakeland High School in LaGrange, IN, following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly and honorably served his country. After his service in the military Buddy led a career in manufacturing until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He harbored a servant’s heart that was genuine and filled with the love for those closest to him. Buddy volunteered his time at the Local Salvation Army as often as he could and was an avid fan of NASCAR, who also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Though he kept to himself, he was caring, funny, and valued his family above all else.
Buddy is survived by his daughter Mara Lumbard of Stroh, IN; his siblings David Kamery of Detroit, Thomas (Karen) Gump of Sturgis, Melissa (Roger) McCoy of Howe, IN, Sandra Kaye (Robert) Martin of Crewe, VA, William “Billy” Ryder, Robert “Bobby” Ryder both of Dinwiddie, VA, Richard (Darlene) Ryder of Skipwith, VA, Shelly (Ronnie) Brown of Crewe, VA; his three grandchildren Arianna Lumbard, Mackenzie Lumbard, Kayden Lumbard and his many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil & Betty Ryder and Edward & Marie Gump and his brothers Donald Ryder and Daniel Ryder.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Hillsdale County Veteran’s Affairs or Hillsdale Salvation Army.
