Obituary for Alice A. Helmuth
Alice A. Helmuth, 81, originally of Beckley, WV, passed peacefully into eternal rest Monday, March 13, 2023 while at home with family members in Coldwater, MI.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Deacon John Wielgos officiating. Private interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday March 17th from 5-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Alice was born November 15, 1941 in Beckley, West Virginia to Alfred L. & Virginia F. (Brock) Teague. She married Delbert Helmuth on May 27, 1959 in Surry, North Carolina. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2019.
Mrs. Helmuth was a Civil Clerk for the city of Westland, 18th District Court for 20 years, from which she retired. While working at the court, Alice formed many long-lasting close friendships with her coworkers, and she was lovingly known as “Blanche” because of her style and sophistication reminiscent of the Golden Girls character.
Alice enjoyed cooking, reading, doing ceramics, crocheting, knitting and needlepoint. She loved long walks outdoors and spending time with her friends from work, but her greatest joy was her family. She was a caregiver by nature and would do anything she could to help anyone in need.
Alice is survived by her children James (Dana) Helmuth of Clearwater. FL, David Helmuth of Westland, Alice (Dr. Matthew) Christopher of Coldwater; her daughter-in-law Melissa Wurtz of Shawnee, KS; her grandchildren Ian (Hiromi) Helmuth, Katelyn Helmuth, Patrick (Emelen) Christopher, Alison Christopher and Isabel Christopher. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Paul Helmuth, her sister Martha Broadhurst, any many other beloved family members and friends.
