Obituary for Alberta H. Barkowski

Alberta H. Barkowski, 94 of Bronson passed away Monday, June 10, 2019 while surrounded by her loving sons.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 12:00 PM at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Paul Redmond officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 4-8:00 PM, with the rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.

Alberta was born June 30, 1924 to George and Helen (Kubasiak) Kibiloski in Matteson Township. On June 20, 1947, she married the love of her life, Stanley Barkowski at St. Mary’s. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2010.

Alberta was a woman of strong faith and a lifelong member of St. Mary’s, where she also was a member of the Rosary Society and Christian Services. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Alberta volunteered at St. Mary School with lunches and also helped cooking for hundreds of weddings and funerals over the years for members of the church. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings and holidays. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Alberta will be remembered for her willingness to give her time without being asked. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Barkowski is survived by her sons Michael D. Barkowski of Bronson, Patrick (Sandra) Barkowski of Coldwater, and Dennis (Jacqueline) Barkowski of Bronson; her sister Rose Marie Skandis of Bronson; her grandchildren Aimee Alger, Justin Barkowski, Cody (Ellen) Barkowski, Michael A. Barkowski, and Kacey Barkowski; and her great grandson Kaisyn Barkowski. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Stanley Barkowski; her brothers Walter and Joseph Kibiloski; her sisters Victoria Trocke, Josephine Muir, Florence Neverske, Mary Linkhart, Francis Hyduk, Eleanor Chappa, and Bernice Kibiloski.
