Obituary for Albert M. "Al" Miller

Albert M. “Captain Al” Miller, 62, of Coldwater passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 11:53 AM at home to his battle with cancer.
A firefighter funeral service will be held Friday, February 17, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at the First Baptist Church of Coldwater with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. In accordance to Al’s wishes, cremation will take place following his service with no burial to be held at this time. The family will receive guest for visitation Friday, February 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
He was born May 31, 1960, to Lyle and Doris (Parshall) Miller in Coldwater, MI. Al graduated from Coldwater High School in 1978. June 17th, 1978, Al married Bonnie Butters in Bronson and she survives. Al was a wonderful man that dedicated his life to helping the community. Al served on the Fire department beginning in 1988 as part-paid and was hired full-time in 1990; he became the captain in 1995, and overall, he served for 29 years and retired on November 29th, 2017. He further continued his ongoing repair shop Miller Repair, full-time after retirement to continue serving the community as that is what he enjoyed best.
Al was a for-life member of the Coldwater Moose Lodge #677. He was also a member of the NRA. He was a dedicated member of the Bethel Gilead Community Church where he had a very strong relationship with God, and he actively shared his testimony with everyone. He enjoyed volunteering for the church by helping with the kitchen and events and attending small group to strengthen his knowledge of God.
He enjoyed running his business, there was rarely a day he was not there working. He loved working, and he was a very hard worker, he was so dedicated to everything he did. He always wanted his family to be with him, if we were able, he would want his entire family to be under one roof to protect them. He especially felt at peace when all his grandkids were at his house, he loved taking them to hotels, waterparks, camping, and Adventure Zone.
Al will be dearly missed as a loving brother, cousin, husband, father, papa, uncle, mechanic, firefighter brother, and friend.
In addition to his wife Bonnie, Al leaves behind his sister Chrystal (Chuck) Ooten of Ilwaco, WA, children Brandon (Annette) Miller of Bronson, MI, and Alena (Chuck) Miller of Montgomery, MI, His five grandchildren, Dylan (Cierra Hasch) Miller, Jayna (Michael Richer) Klingaman, Blake (Kendall Sheline) Miller, Caiden Miller, Karson Miller, and His Great-Granddaughter Lakelyn Miller, his many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mike Miller, and his sister Janice Maxwell.
Memorial donations are suggested to Bethel Gilead Church, Branch County Humane Society, or to Animal Aid of Branch County.
