Condolence: My deepest condolences to your family and friends on this very sad news. I am so glad Robert knew that his fans have never forgotten him, I know I never have. Though I was only five when Voyage was first shown in the UK and my Dad said it was the only time I would stop talking and that I would tell everyone to keep quiet as I sat goggle eyed at our black and white tv, facinated by Voyage, the XO and the Captain. Till this day it remains my favourite programme and always will be. 🕯Rest In Peace Robert🕯Thank you for all the pleasure you gave us during your career. "(LT. CMDR) Mr Morton, you can stand easy now, your duty is done"

Condolence: As a teenager I loved watching Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. The two characters I most cherished were Admiral Nelson (Richard Basehart) and Chip Morton (Robert Dowdell). There was something about Robert's stature and demeanor that made him perfect for the part. As a man, he distinguished himself by his love for animals and his respect for people. A gentleman in every sense of the word, Robert was a gifted and talented actor and human being. To say he will be missed would be an understatement. God bless his loved ones and may his soul rest in the arms of God.

Condolence: My deepest condolences to the Dowdell family. Like most fans, I only knew Bob from afar, enjoying his role as Chip Morton, and his many other TV roles growing up; but I have found myself deeply affected by his passing. As an active Voyage fan fiction writer, I came to love not only his amazing character, which he played so well, but the gentleman behind the many roles. He signed a very special art rendering for me and I cherish it greatly. His legacy lives on in our hearts and I will endeavor to keep his legacy alive in my stories as well. Sent with love. Lynn

Condolence: When I would ask how he was, Robert would tell me, "I'm up, I'm still standing." He would then go out and feed his beloved cats. They were counting on him to show up, he always said. Whenever I had any fan mail to forward to Robert - he had a lot of fans - I always threw in a big wholesale club size bag of cat treats. He liked that. Good man. His love and generosity to all will be missed.
