Kenneth Clarence Pask
A Soldier died today, March 4, 2015.
His tour of duty is over. His mission is accomplished. This soldier is at ease. He’s going home.
With his loving family beside him, his kind and generous heart stopped beating and he entered peacefully into his heavenly reward, reunited with the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Gladys.
Born December 27, 1924 in Coldwater, Michigan, he was the youngest son of nine children, born to Clarence and Ethel (Sweet) Pask.
Kenneth was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Third Infantry Army, and one of thousands of young soldiers going ashore on the ANZIO Beachhead in Italy. Wounded twice and receiving a Purple Heart, he was Missing in Action before being reported as a Prisoner of War by German forces for fourteen months and ten days.
After the war, He married Gladys Dirschell on February 1, 1947 and they had two daughters, Cindy and Cathy.
He worked, as a young man, at the Standard Station on the corner of US 12 and Clay Street where he lived with his parents at 26 N. Clay. The historic gas station still stands.
Kenneth was a retiree of Commercial Carriers where he was a car hauler for 37 years. He was a farmer and loved working with wood. He loved to fish and some of his fondest memories were fishing at Caballa Lake in New Mexico and panning for gold.
He is survived by his children Cindy and Brad Moore, Cathy and Larry Reichhart, his grandchildren Holly and Jamie McKee, Ryan Moore, Derik and Robin Reichhart, Tate and Sandra Reichhart, his great grandchildren Brennan and Braeden McKee, Madelyn and Dalton Moore, Miles and Aimee Scott, Katie (Matthew) Lamb, Kira Reichhart, Austen and Jaden Reichhart, his great-great grandchildren Paige and Lexi Scott, Micah Lamb, his sister Arlene Simonds, and he was Uncle Kenny to countless nieces and nephews. Mr. Pask was preceded in death by his wife Gladys on July 18, 2007, his parents, his brothers Raymond, Loyal, R.T. and Harry, his sisters Mildred, Maxine and Margaret.
The Funeral will be Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Brad Parrish officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors presented by the American Legion #52, Drill Team. Visitation will be Monday, March 9, 2015 from 3 – 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
