Our History
Dutcher Funeral
Home was est. in 1972 when Steve & Marina
Dutcher purchased the former Baggerly Funeral Home, then relocated
to it’s current Coldwater location.
Our smoke free facility is designed to be comfortable
and pleasant with a home like atmosphere. It
is entirely handicapped accessible
and has an ample amount of parking. It features
two large chapels and a smaller family room which
could
be used as a third chapel.
The building is designed to be sectioned off
or completely opened up, seating approximately
250
people.
Our firm is a member of the Michigan Funeral
Directors Assoc. and the National Funeral Directors
Assoc.,
dedicated to the advancement
of the funeral profession and to the best possible
service for the public.
Some of our unique features include a lounge
and children's area.
The
lounge has a refrigerator, microwave
and coffee bar. We
encourage families to bring snacks
and drinks and use it as a comfortable
area to take a break during long visitations. We also
have a children's
play area with toys
and videos. We feel it is important to
make children a part of the services, but
realize their ability to tolerate
the long hours is limited. This gives
them a place of their own to go and play or just get
away from
the sometimes tense environment
of a funeral or visitation.
We know and understand how difficult it is to
lose a loved one, especially during the holidays.
After
the death of Marina Dutcher
we started our annual holiday memorial service
in remembrance of everyone who has died in the
past
year. We invite
all of the families we have served and each of
them are given a personalized
ornament off of our Christmas tree with the name
of the person who has died. It is a beautiful,
candlelight vigil with music
and memories and a wonderful tribute to their
loved one.
We offer to the public the use of our antique
Cunningham horse drawn hearse, circa
1900, owned by us. We purchased
the hearse in 1997 and had it completely
restored. It is available for use, weather permitting and
depending on cemetery location.
Sometimes flowers just don’t say
enough.
We offer
a line of
keepsake items available
for sale. From
Inspirational Angels and Throws to
Thumbie necklaces, we have a large selection
of momentos to let
someone know
how much you
care We provide each family with an
online guestbook where friends and families
may share memories
or express
condolences with those
who have lost a loved one.
For those desiring a traditional full
service we make memorial tribute videos
consisting of
15 photos,
set
to music and live
scenery. Individual copies are available
on DVD or VHS.
We are dedicated to the families we
serve and believe in going above and
beyond our call of
duty to provide
the most meaningful
and loving tribute for those who have
died and for the loved ones they leave
behind. As members
of the
community we serve,
we treat everyone as if they were family.
