Obituary for Helen Linda Spencer

Helen Linda  Spencer
Helen L. Spencer, 68, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Fairview Missionary Church in Angola, Indiana with Pastor Norm Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at Sorter Cemetery in Ovid Township, Michigan. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2:00- 4:00 and 6:00- 8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Helen was born December 4, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland to Carlyle and Virginia (Drumm) Ashburn. She received her business degree and worked for The University of Dubuque as the Development Office Administrative Assistant. She also worked for John Deere in Dubuque, Iowa and Maryland.
She married Joseph Spencer on February 4, 1989 in Davenport, Iowa. Helen was a member of the Fairview Missionary Church in Angola, IN, the Social Director of Shawnee Shoals Neighborhood Association, and a member of the DAR. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry, collecting pottery, collecting P. Buckley Moss Art, her indoor plants, especially orchids and African violets. She also enjoyed modern classical & instrumental music, and spending time with her family, especially her children.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her sons William (Sherri) Aske of Cassopolis, Brian (Aubrey) Aske of Glen Rock, PA, Michael (Crystal) Spencer of Coldwater, her sister Carol (Roy) Neal of Parkton, MD, her brother Richard (Carol) Ashburn of Timonium, MD, and her grandson Wesley Aske. She was preceded in death by her parents.
