Obituary for June L. Lawhead

June Lillian (Jordon) Lawhead born October 15, 1931 in Toledo, OH, went home to Heaven on Sunday December 24th, 2017. Cliffie Bowers, her 28 year old grandson, preceded her in death just hours before and now they enjoy eternity together with a host of friends and relatives. Among these are: June’s parents June and Margaret (Straw) Jordon, her brother Bob Jordon and his wife Helen, and her brother Don Jordon and his wife Audrey.
Her memory is preserved by her husband Gordon, whom she married June 23, 1951, her 6 children, Margaret (Roger) Broersma, Larry (Milena) Lawhead, Frances (Steve) Weed, Steve (Denise) Lawhead, Linda (Cliff) Bowers and Bess (Dan) Gerth as well as 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
June graduated from Parma High School in 1950, where she was the captain of the girls’ basketball team and played trombone in the marching band. In 1956, she earned her degree in Missions and Music from Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music. Music was always part of June’s life. She enjoyed playing piano and organ for church and did so most of her life. At bedtime she often played her children to sleep. She continued sharing her love for music with fellow residents of Englewood, and later at Maple Lawn. It should also be noted that June had a life-time heart for missions and traveled overseas often.
Her family remains indebted to the caring staff of Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility. Their loving attention to the final years of June’s life will not be forgotten. Remembrance gifts may be made to Maple Lawn. Condolence cards may be sent to Gordon Lawhead, 50 Sanderson Lane, Coldwater, MI 49036.
A private memorial gathering will be planned at a later date. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home. www.dutcherfh.com.
