Obituary for Clifford H. "Cliffie" Bowers

Clifford H. “Cliffie” Bowers, 28, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 as the result of an auto accident.
The funeral service will be Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Coldwater with Pastor David Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 4-8:00 PM at First Baptist Church. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Cliffie was born July 4, 1989 in Coldwater to Clifford H. & Linda (Lawhead) Bowers III. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 2008 and earned a BBA from Western MI University in 2012. Cliffie was a Loan Originator for Infinity Home Mortgage in Coldwater for the past year and a half where he found joy working with people. He had previously worked for Monarch/Chemical Bank.
Through his work, he enjoyed giving back to the community by participating in many fundraising activities in both Branch and Hillsdale Counties. Cliffie was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. In high school he played soccer, football and threw discus and shot put in Track and Field where he placed 6th in state his junior year and finished 2nd in state his senior year. He was an honor student and honor athlete holding school records in sports and weight lifting. He loved hunting and all sorts of fishing including ice fishing, spear and bow fishing. Boating with friends and family and living life on the lake was a must have for Cliffie. He also enjoyed playing games with family and friends and collecting $2 bills. His friends considered him an “old soul” by his taste in music, the things he liked to do and his loyalty to others. One of his joys in life was celebrating holidays with family and friends especially with fireworks on the 4th of July, his birthday.
Cliffie is survived by his parents Cliff and Linda Bowers of Quincy, his beloved sister Sonya Bowers of Madison Heights, grandparents Clifford Bowers, Jr., Gordon Lawhead of Coldwater, aunts and uncles Kevin (Pamela) Bowers, James (Debora) Bowers, Chris (Jill) Bowers all of Coldwater, Katrina Bowers of Battle Creek, Margaret (Roger) Broersma of Grand Rapids, Larry (Milena) Lawhead of CA, Frances (Steve) Weed of Coldwater, Steve (Denise) Lawhead of MD, Bess (Dan) Gerth of Coldwater, numerous cousins and a uncountable number of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Sandra Bowers and his grandmother June Lawhead passed away the day after him.
Memorials may be directed to AYSO of Branch Co., CHS Track and Field or the First Baptist Church -Wednesday night children’s program.
