Obituary for Matthew E. DePew

Matthew Erle DePew, 34, of Reading, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 due to an auto accident.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, July 17, 2017 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with President Jarrod Collison of Jonesville Branch- Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Matthew was born May 24, 1983 to David E. Depew and Sherrie L. Buchmann in Bismarck, N. Dakota.
After graduating from Quincy High School, Matthew went on his 2 year mission trip to California. He attended 2 years of college and then went to work for Meijer’s in Coldwater for 10 years and he also worked for ConAgra Foods in Quincy for the past 2 years in processing.

He married Gail E. Halstead on September 8, 2012 in California Corners, Michigan.
Matthew was a member of Coldwater Branch-Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed golfing, fantasy football, video games, going to the movies, going out with his friends from Meijer’s and his pet dog Pork Chop. Matthew loved his playing days of football and wrestling at Quincy High School.

Matthew is survived by his wife Gail of Reading, his son Elias of Reading, his father David (Diane) DePew of Attlen, Pennsylvania, his mother Sherrie DePew of Kingsland, Georgia, his paternal grandparents, George (Shirley) DePew of Tekonsha, his siblings David E. DePew Jr. of Escanaba, California, Jacob E. (Theresa) DePew of Kingsland, Georgia, Daniel E. DePew of San Francisco, California, Amelia K. (Frank) Maio of Mt. Airy, Maryland, Gina M. (Matthew) Ashley of Kingsland, Georgia, Melissa DePew of Kingsland, Georgia and Joseph Erle Depew of Atglen, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Milton (Elsie) Buchmann.
