Obituary for Robert I. "Gramps" Noblit

Robert Isaac “Gramps” Noblit, 80 of Coldwater passed away peacefully Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his home.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Robert was born October 26, 1936 to Clarence and Vivian (Hopfe) Noblit in Jonesville. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Army. On April 13, 1963 he married the love of his life, Sally Allen in Coldwater. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2008. After return from the service, Robert began a long career as an over-the-road truck driver.

Gramps was involved in many local groups including the Coldwater Elks, Eagles, and Moose Lodge, and the Quincy American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing, and camping. Robert also liked riding motorcycles and “watching the grass grow”. He will be remembered as being grumpy, but loveable, quick witted, and kept you on your toes wondering what he would do or say next. His true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his children Teresa (Troy) York of Bronson, and Scott Noblit of Coldwater; his sisters Patti Miller of Coldwater and Peggy Vernon-Noblit of Florida; his sister-in-law Sara Noblit of Coldwater; his grandchildren Steve (Amber) York, Amber Brewer, Ashely (Mark) Pierson, Lindsey Noblit, Trevor Noblit, and Bobby (Megan) Noblit; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sally; his brothers Clarence, Joe, and Jack Noblit; his brother-in-law’s Bill Miller and Bill Vernon; and his grandsons Christopher and Dustin Noblit.

Memorials may be directed to Southern Care Hospice or the Quincy American Legion. www.dutcherfh.com
